oh,poor Scourge.I don't understand why Scourge nests spray  Flying locusts model.Maybe they think the Flying locusts model is very coooooool,errrr.so Phill you like the scourge better right?So do i.it's a pity~~~
errrr,now the short story showed that the Saalok brood was Controled by a mysterious creature.So that may be Amon or new creature like overmind.so maybe in LOTV,Amon's zerg will fight to the kerrgen's zerg.Maybe that time,we will see the Devourer,Guardian,Defiler,original queen and even behemoth.So this can make Amon's brood different from kerrgen's brood.
we can see some HOTS campaign unit in WOL StarEdit,such as lucker,Psi Broadcaster.So it maybe means that Blizzard will cut some units finally and place it into next game.And maybe LOTV will prove it.So that your works are not in vain.

I like MR--JACK 's artwork,he try his best to restore SCI unit-- Arclite Siege Tanks,zerg in SCI.that's what fans and players always want.

I think Scourge Nests spray flying Locusts because if we used Scourge, players might assume they could control them, which isn't part of the level's mechanic.

I'm a huge SC2 fan and been looking for this for ages, this is really superb stuff, gratz man! Nice to finally see the face behind the models I've spent 1000's of hours looking at!

Can you tell us a bit about how the normal maps were generated on the organic Zerg creatures? Was it from a high poly, and was it done in a ZB or Mudbox workflow? Were the diffuse textures drawn after the normals in photoshop? I'm really interested to know the workflow if you don't mind shedding some light on that (if you're allowed)?

I can speak to the normal maps!

Most of the Zerg normal map textures were made form the grayscale we use on the Diffuse textures. We paint in grayscale, create a color layer to make the diffuse, and use the same grayscale in combination with the Nvidia Photoshop filter to create the normal maps.

We used Mudbox for a few buildings, the Roach Warren, the Hatchery, Greater Spire, and Infestation Pit. We found that this workflow wasn't very effective since we make everything specifically for the game camera view. Sometimes these buildings go through some significant adjustments. It's more simple to constantly iterate on the game art rather than going back and forth between high and low poly.
