I’m glad to see this unit back in the Starcraft universe. When we’d planned on updating the Starcraft 1 Scout design, we realized everyone had different features they really liked about the original. Each homage revision we did in Starcraft 2 went through several passes, there is a great deal of appreciation for the old designs (no matter how absurd they are) and we acknowledged that when updating each unit. Another concern was making it look more organic as well, because the Protoss in Starcraft 2 have more flowing shapes and less geometric angles. The first pass was more of a mash-up then a balance of those ideas. The Scout looked very faithful to the source material but also looked rather clunky. Trevor stepped in and made some much needed adjustments to the nose while completely scrapping the SC1 style wings for some more organic shaped wings.
